Museums "Alte Bischofsburg" Wittstock an der Dosse
The 32-m high tower of the old bishop's castle (municipal tower) is home to a museum about the Thirty Years' War across seven floors. It commemorates the history of this devastating war for Brandenburg and beyond as well as the Battle of Wittstock in 1636. Many original findings illustrate the history vividly. The neighboring Eastern Prignitz Museum presents city and regional history of the area around Wittstock and the Prignitz region. Historical developments as well as craft traditions are displayed in great detail. Several special exhibitions and events take place every year. A versatile educational museum program also offers various formats for all age groups.
