The local history museum in Glindow

The local history museum in Glindow, a district of Werder (Havel), is run by the Heimatverein Glindow e. V. (local history association). The renovated "Kochsche Haus" was handed over to the local history association by the municipality of Glindow for use as a local history museum. The listed Büdnerhaus was first mentioned in 1769 in a hereditary deed in the name of Gottfried Dürre. The last owner of the house was Mrs Anneliese Koch, née Döring, who transferred the land and house to the municipality of Glindow in accordance with her will, provided the municipality set up the house as a museum.

A special attraction is the "sooty black kitchen", which has been preserved in its original state and was once used for cooking and frying on an open fire. Before the smoke could escape through the opening in the ceiling, it blackened the walls and ceiling of the kitchen over the course of many years. Many exhibits from times gone by, such as old furniture, crockery, utensils, photos and old pictures, have been made available by the residents of Glindow. There are regular current exhibitions.
