Workers were already able to afford bicycles. For that reason, the worker cycling association "Solidarity" was founded as early as 1896. A local chapter existed in Letschin as well. In 1924, they procured this beautiful banner. "Frisch auf" is the motto. One specialty of the Letschin cyclists was "round dance cycling", an artistic cycling discipline. They performed their renditions at festivals and events. In 1933, the local group was prohibited, like all organizations associated with the left worker's movement. The banner was to be confiscated. But the old working class had their class pride, too. Wilhelm Saß, a member of the local group, built a second backwall into this closet. The banner was hidden behind it and the police searched for it without avail. And that is how the banner survived the Nazi era and found its rightful place in the Homestead Letschin in 1996.
