Technical Memorial Gas Plant Neustadt/Dosse

The gas plant is one of the last witnesses of the 150-year long history of gas production and was among the oldest coal degassing plants until it was shut down in September of 1980. It produced city gas from coal through the traditional technology in retort furnaces. The structure was hardly changed through reconstruction and refurbishment and still provides an original image of the technology from the beginning of the last century. Visitors are invited to marvel at old gas-powered devices, such as furnaces, gas tubs, gas meters, gas holders, gas lamps and much more. Fascinating technology which can be touched and explored.
